Designed and built in 1999 by Peter Matkovich, and ranked by Compleat Golfer as the No.1 course in the Western Cape, the Arabella golf course in Kleinmond offers a classic parkland course with spectacular views across the Bot River  lagoon and the Kogelberg mountain range.  Situated in the Kogelberg biosphere, a world famous fynbos hetritage reserve, this exciting course offers pristine fairways, deceptive bunkers and challenging water traps.

Home to the 5 star Luxurious Western Cape Hotel and Altira Spa, houses on the estate have been designed to blend in to the natural environment.  Planned and developed closely with eco-analysts and conservations experts.

This original 9 hole course was built in the early 1900's, increased to 18 holes in 1923 and remodelled  by Bob Grimsdell, was upgraded and overhauled in 2006 by Peter Matkovich.  An additional 9 holes were added, based around the new Fernkloof  Golf Estate development. A moderne design against the backdrop opf the Kleinriver mountains.

Nearby attractions are of course the Saturday morning market at the Fernkloof nature reserve, walking and hiking trails within the reserve, land based whale watching, sea cruises, kayaking, wine tours etc.  Close to the nearby town of Gansbaai, famous for its shark-cage diving.

Greenways is a nine hole golf course that borders right onto the sea.  It was developed on the old famous eighteen hole golf course but, unfortunately, only nine holes could be retained.

The setting is particularly beautiful with dams and a lagoon with birds such as ducks, swans and geese.  The Hottentotsholland mountain range and the Helderberg form a charming backdrop.

The very pleasant club house has a coffee shop, tennis courts and a pool.

Around all the natural beauty, a residential area was developed.  The estate includes free standing houses as well as town houses and luxury flats.  Each block has its own amenities such as swimming pools and recreational areas.

The estate is protected by electric fencing as well as a team of security personnel who man the gates 24 hours per day.
